STARTING THE GAME

1. Obtain the downloader from the Download link at the top of the page.
2. Run the downloader application to install the game client.
3. Create a Papaya Play account if you do not already have one.
4. Start the game client, download any additional updates.
5. Log in to the game client with your Papaya Play ID and password
6. Create an Account PIN.
7. Create a character.
8. Enter the world.

If you haven’t already obtained the Nine Dragons game client, visit the Nine Dragons home page and click Download.

Make sure your system meets the minimum specifications, and click Free Download to obtain the Nine Dragons launch application.

Run the launcher file, which will begin the process of downloading the latest version of the Nine Dragons game client. This requires a working internet connection, and you must remain connected to the internet in order to play Nine Dragons.

Downloading the required game files may take some time, so if you haven’t done so already, go ahead and create a Papaya Play account. Any page on the Nine Dragons website, or any other page on any of the Papaya Play websites, will have a link at the top of the page which says Create Free Account. With your Papaya Play account, you’ll be able to access your Nine Dragons account from anywhere. Your account will also allow you access to any of Papaya Play's other titles.

Once all the required files for the Nine Dragons game client have finished downloading, you should be provided the option to run the game client. If not, locate the launcher application in the game folder, and open it. The launcher will run, and update the game files if they have been patched. The game client itself will then open, and take you to the log in screen.

To log in, you must enter your account ID and password. Enter your Papaya Play account ID (not case-sensitive) and password (which IS case-sensitive).

You can ignore the Server button. There is currently only one server, Tao, and all characters in Nine Dragons can be found here.

If this is your first time logging in, you will be asked to create a Personal Identification Number (PIN), which is an extra layer of account security for your Nine Dragons account. Enter a 4-digit number code that you will be able to remember. Be careful when entering this code, as you will be locked out of your account if you enter the wrong code five times in a row. Contact Papaya Play Support if this occurs.

If you haven't logged in to Nine Dragons before, you won't have any characters. You'll need to create at least one character before you can enter the game. Select Create Character to begin the process.

Unlike most MMORPG's, you will not select your character class on creation. After spending a bit of time in the game, you will select which of six available clans to join, and one of four roles within that clan, which will determine most of the martial arts techniques you learn, how your character approaches combat, and how you will experience the game's story.

You may select your character's gender, and cycle through the possible hair, face, and clothing styles. Aside from your gender, which determines whether or not you can join the Shaolin or Sacred Flower clans, and which type of clothing your character can wear, none of the visual selections have any affect on your gameplay.

Character names can be up to twelve characters long and may contain any of upper- or lower-case letters, or numbers, but no spaces or special characters. Your name will be visible to every other player in Nine Dragons, and cannot be changed, so consider it carefully. Names which contain offensive words or are otherwise inappropriate are not permitted, and will be changed at the discretion of the Game Moderation team. Press Create a Character once you've selected the name and appearance you want.

You may create additional characters on your Nine Dragons account, to a maximum of three. Alternate characters (or “alts”) do not have access to any of your other characters’ experience, items, or cash. However, all characters on the same account share the same pool of in-game cash.

Should you later change your mind about creating a new character, you may delete existing characters, with the Delete a Character button. Deleted characters cannot be recovered – their experience, inventory, and all other progress are gone forever. For this reason, you are given a prompt before you can fully delete a character - you must enter their name, and your account PIN, to confirm your choice to delete.

Once a character is deleted, you won't be able to create another character for 5 days, in case you change your mind about deletion. Contact Papaya Play Support if you wish to restore a deleted character.

Once your character is created, you will be taken back to the character selection screen. Select your character and press the Connect button, and you will enter the game world.
