Star Seeker

star_seeker.jpg

Starseeker is a unique subclass due to its ability to spam robots, lack of hand coordination (keyboard wise), and its DPS abilities. It is considered a very “hard” class because of its start off and lack of ability to show “damage” until end game status. This is made up later on as some abilities are stationary and others are mobile, giving the player a defensive and offensive stand in the battlefield whether it be party or solo play. The class has also been known for its ability to tank with or without a regeneration build due to its high resistance, defense, and static defense. In addition, Starseeker is considered to be a simplistic class due to its role and you will find many builds to be relatively close based on your stat preference for the class.

Pros

Cons

▸ Considered to be a stand skill class due to it’s ability to dish out mobile robots, letting the player rest easy
▸ Only class to be offensive while being defensive at the same time
▸ Can cause “boss aggravation” depending on placement and timing of skills
▸ Known to be the fastest clearer in the game due to robot summons
▸ Can shield party members/stun enemies
▸ Extremely high damage potential due to the number of damage sources the class has access to
▸ Can heal self on hit

▸ Dash skill feels more like a movement skill than an escape skill, due to momentum
▸ Unable to show progression until mid game due to gearing
▸ Has a ridiculous amount of magic for an ep based class
▸ The AI for the robots can be bad
▸ Extremely stationary in pvp due to a lack of escape skills besides pvp skills
▸ Burn and Poison instantly kill summons due to a bug(Able to be mitigated by the shield summon)

Star Seeker
(Lv. 140)

Become a Star Seeker by following the steps:

1. During character creation, choose Engineer. This class starts off with minimal attacks and is equipped with a bag as a weapon. In addition to its small skill pool, the user also has access to turrets as stationary summons.

2. At Lv. 50, advance to Meister. Once you advance to second job at Lv. 50, your class will change to Meister, which uses a different weapon (the MG). It completely changes from a “Summon and skill” playstyle to a slow, combo oriented play-style with a few very strong skills and support summons that buff you. Now, you can hit at range and show off some cool moves.

3. At Lv. 100, advance to Engistar. With third job at Lv. 100 comes a plethora of new skills; most notably skills that require the usage of the AP gauge. There are a few ways to recharge this gauge, the most common being simply dealing damage to enemies. You can also use certain pet skills, such as the Patchwork Bunny pet, or one of your active misc skills known as Extrasensory.

4. At Lv. 140, switch to Star Seeker. At level 140, you gain access to Star Seeker, the subclass of Engineer. Star Seeker takes the class back to its roots by relying on summons for the majority of its damage. This class provides several stationary and mobile robots, a shield skill, abilities that stun, and a difference in view of robots compared to Swordian.

2. The Basics

Playing StarSeeker is fairly simple. As you are low leveled, you’ll start off with 2~3 summons and this will grow to 6~7 summons as you reach closer to the level cap. You also have 4 attacking skills (not counting legends) that you can use to support your summons. All of these skills, except for one, have very short cooldowns which allow you to spam them as needed. The attacking skills use very little SP outside of the Legend skills; one round of skills only costs 350 SP. Usually, there are no dangers of running out of SP unless you continuously spam Legend skills while they’re off cooldown. Even then, they still use little to no SP in comparison to a few other classes. On the other hand, the summon skills for this class use EP, which you gain from getting ely, which comes from killing enemies. It doesn’t matter if you, your summons or even other party members kill the enemies, because you will still get EP. There are two other ways to gain EP: a skill called EP Steal that has a 5% chance upon striking an enemy to gain 50 EP at max level, and the EP Recovery skill which recovers 80 EP per level for a maximum of 1200 EP. This skill costs no SP to activate, so it’s your best way to gain EP. It is important to have as much EP as you can, as you will consume EP rather quickly through summoning, as well as keeping one of the two Star Seeker Ultimate buffs alive. A full summon rotation at Lv. 212 will use up to 640 EP. Be aware while managing EP that Star Seeker’s escape skill also costs EP to use. None of this is complicated to keep up with, however.

Gameplay Videos

Starseeker Solo at Dragon Garden

This video shows the basics of Starseeker and how the class works. This class takes the original play style of Engineer and evolves it to focus more on summons and low cooldown active skills. The summons deal damage independently, as they manage their own skills and can also hold aggro; it’s like having a party in the palm of your hands.

4. Skill Builds & Tips

No matter what build you are, at 209 at the latest, you should have the shield summon. While it might be a massive drain on skill point resources(it costs 30 skill points to learn!) the support it offers not only the starseeker him/herself, but their summons, and the entire party in the case of party play is too good to pass up.

Black Gear Users

This guild utilizes the static damage, maximum powered damage (By maxing out most of the skills) and defenses of all types. Star seeker is already known for its amazing bulk but for black uses more bulk plus efficient controlled DPS is one way to look at the class. As mentioned before we have the fastest clearing time and aiming for equal damage aside from crit rate (which we struggle to obtain) is a perfect duo. Some of the highlights to the black set build is the difference in resistance, defenses, dual evasion that we strive for to stand on the battleground longer. Another thing to note is the increase of points in the Star Seeker Ultimate combination due to the demand of Critical Damage, Physical Maximum damage and EP (assuming you don’t have a Patchwork Bunny).

Note: These builds are not that much different compared other than stat preference.

Red

This build is for a 212 StarSeeker using the red set. It’s very similar to the black build, but focuses more on max damage, which lets your summons do more overall damage. In the first tree, you only put 3 levels onto Mechanical Enhancements unless you have a ton of extra points(which, even if you do, I’d recommend going down the Defensive Tree first and trying to get Redundant Systems) and continue forward. Guardian Ball Enhancement is the first skill you max in that tree due to the fact that summons(and your skills) will benefit greatly from the increase of Weapon Attack. I personally have skipped Matchless, which gives you Dual Immunity for 1.5 seconds because I can use the 7 skill points elsewhere. This is mostly due to the fact that I have Kenshiro, which makes this skill redundant. I’ve heavily invested into my defenses(more specifically, Redundant Systems) since the Starseeker buffs in the last major update make it’s offensive capabilities much more solid, allowing me a little freedom to boost my defenses a little. Defensive builds should try to max out Redundant Systems as soon as possible, whereas more offensive builds should max out the Power Surge skills before moving to the defensive tree.

5. Gearing

Important: All of your attacking stats transfer over to your summon, including Crit Rate at the TIME of summoning. This means that if you use a 100% crit rate potion and then summon Almae, even if the pot runs out for you, Almae will keep 100% Crit rate until she despawns!

Gearing Star Seeker is interesting as Star Seeker actually has a choice of whether or not you want to chose the Aspect of Ascension Set(commonly known as the Black/Kaiser set) or the Aspect of Dissolution set(known as the Red/Tsar Set).

Red
If you want to Choose AoD, then you are going to want to build and enchant(from most important to least): Crit Damage > Physical Max/Min > Attack Range > Strength/Stamina(stamina isn’t as important due to the class’ natural bulk) > Static Damage(You can enchant more static damage than strength if you want to have your own skills hit harder). The reason for this enchant order is so that your summons can benefit as much as possible from your stats. Your Blasphemy set will be the same between Black and Red.

Note:
For the Blasphemy accessory on cloak, AoD set uses will enchant Crit damage/Attack for duo and Crit damage/Attack/Basic stats for trio. Other than that AoD can also enchant Elemental resistance/Basic Stat depending on preference.

For enchantable Special equipment(Sticker, Belt, Brooch), you should enchant Strength even though you can enchant Static to boost your own skills more. The same goes for all of your badges; enchant Strength unless you want to make your skills a bit stronger, in which case you swap it out for static damage.
When it comes to gems, you want to enchant Physical Defense Penetration and Attack on your Red 1~3 Gems,Strength %, and(if you get lucky) Strength on your 4th Red Gem. On your Yellow 1~3 Gems, Stamina and Luck are good choices(Stamina being a good choice for single gems), with Stamina % being a good choice on your 4th Gem. For your Blue 1~4, Stamina is a good choice as well. The best Rainbow Gem you can make is Physical Crit Damage, Physical Max, and Physical Min as a Trio, Crit and Max as a duo, or Crit as a single.

Boosters and Oil
In both cases, Crit Damage is probably your best bet. However, if your crit rate isn't that high, you can go for Max Damage Boosters and Sorrow Perfume Oil(Physical Defense Penetration).

Black
If you decide to pick the black set, known as Aspect of Ascension (AoA), you'll notice that it revolves around more HP, static damage, crit rate and basic stats. This means your priority is Crit Rate > Static Damage/Static Defense > Basic Stats. Most multi hit classes (DPS) use this set because of their multi hits. The theory behind static damage is that it keeps its consistency instead of having your damage vary significantly. An example would be a range of 6-12 while static damage would make it around 10-12. Unfortunately (along with most stats in this game), it is still a mystery of what all of its features hold. Most modern Star seekers use the (AoA) set for a variety of reasons but both sets are good depending on what stat you are trying to prioritize.

Since you’ll be aiming for Crit Rate > Static Damage/Static Defense > Basic stats, a ton of your accessories and armor will be enchanted differently; remember to always focus on more than one stat. The gearing enchants can include Stam, Defense, Hp or what’s most commonly used, Strength.

For accessories (which include badges, brooch, necklace, book), a common stat that is enchanted is Static Defense. If you’ve ever noticed that when you take damage, there are a variety of yellow numbers above your head. Static Defense reduces them (and also comes in handy with the regeneration build). Crit rate is harder to obtain in DPS related classes so there are several options such as the Lvl 2. Crit rate booster, Crit rate sandwich, Crit rate wonder drug, running Dot Nuri 4 20 times, Pierrot pet, codexing the Rainbow Pepper, reaching Lvl. 235, and more. Lastly, Basic Stats can come from your Star Seeker special tab, from runeglyphs, codex and cards, etc.

Note:
For Blasphemy accessories, AoA usually enchant Basic Stats and Elemental Resistance. Some of the accessories will have stats you were not able to enchant in the past. For example, you can add PDP on the earrings, Dual Maximum damage on ring, Dual Minimum Damage for glasses, Dual crit damage for cloak, Dual Static Damage/Movement speed for stockings, and Defense for bindi. All of these should be enchanted with more than one stat, whether it be duo or trio.

Gems
Most Star seekers that use the AoA set will enchant TDD (Physical Defense Penetration) on their 1st-3rd slot red gems (while 4th red gets strength % and +) followed by Static Defense on their 1st-4th yellow gem slots. If you’re aiming for duo type gems, the combination will be PDP/Str & Static Defense/HP. Blue gems are usually enchanted with just Stamina 1st-4th.
