Dungeons

Trieste is a massive world, filled with wonders, secrets, and adventure. Many of the greatest challenges and most lucrative rewards are hidden deep within the dungeons that are scattered throughout the world.

Solo dungeons are designed to be run by a single player, whereas party dungeons are much more difficult and require multiple players, covering the standard party roles. The most difficult dungeons require players be part of an expedition in order to enter.

Instances

Unlike the larger world, which is shared with other players, dungeons are instanced content, meaning that a new and private version of the dungeon is generated each time an individual or group enters. Other players cannot enter a specific instance unless they are invited by someone who is already inside, and entering the same dungeon after completing its goal will create a new instance of that dungeon, repopulating it with creatures and treasure. If all player characters in a dungeon are killed, the dungeon will also reset.

Finding and Entering Dungeons

Dungeon entrances can be found on the in-game map, as though they were NPC’s. The name of the dungeon will be followed by (InDun), short for Instanced Dungeon. You can interact with these entrances as if they were NPC’s.

Most dungeons cannot be run indefinitely. Entry requires either an entrance fee (usually DIL), or a ticket. Most ticketed dungeons offer one complementary ticket per day, but receiving a new ticket on the same day will usually have a cost. The cost of additional ticket escalates with each subsequent attempt, whether your previous attempt ends with death or by completing the dungeon. Each day at a specific time, the number of attempts for all dungeons resets for all players. Players can obtain a new complementary entrance ticket for each dungeon upon reset, and the cost for subsequent tickets returns to its base value.

For party dungeons, each party member must pay the entrance fee in order to enter the dungeon. For party dungeons which require a ticket, sometimes only the party leader must possess and pay the ticket for entry, and sometimes each party member must have a ticket. See individual dungeon descriptions.

A dungeon will inform you of the minimum requirements for entry. All dungeons have minimum level requirements, and most party dungeons have a minimum party size needed as well. Some dungeons also have a maximum level and will not allow entry to characters who exceed this. Keep in mind that, just because a dungeon entrance is found in a specific area, this does not mean that the dungeon is of comparable difficulty to the creatures found in that area.

Dungeon Difficulty

Since dungeons are intended to be run multiple times, many of them have varying degrees of difficulty, suitable for varying levels of character power. Some dungeons might have multiple paths that lead to optional encounters, with additional rewards.

A few dungeons feature escalating difficulty, meaning that while players may be strong enough to challenge the creatures found near the entrance, stronger opponents are found deeper within. Defeating these inhabitants may be beyond the means of players who can handle earlier creatures, and they should come back once they are stronger.

Many dungeons have a Hard Mode, which is a new version of the dungeon with the same layout and monsters, but higher difficulty and better rewards. Hard Mode dungeons are considered separate from their regular counterparts, and can be run independently.

Dead Front Guide

Dead Front is a recurring team-based event, in which up to four parties compete in an assault on the impregnable Forcaz Fortress built by the Serpent demons. The ultimate goal of the event is to kill off the boss demon, Ophiuchus, and then survive a free-for-all battle. The last team standing becomes the Supreme Warriors and is rewarded with rare items and DIL!

-At specific times throughout the day, the event will be announced. The message to look for is “Dead Front Application will Begin Soon”
-There are six level-based Dead Front groups: Baron (lvl. 71-90), Earl (lvl. 91-110), Duke (lvl. 111-130), Arc (lvl. 131-150), Doom (lvl 151- 165), Hell (lvl 166 – 175) and Core (lvl 176+).
-To participate in the event travel through Deneb and seek the Chain of Fire. Look on the upper left area of the map. Step into the Chain of Fire to enter the Dead Front entrance area.
-Once you have stepped through the Chain of Fire, look for the commander NPC associated. It is here that parties of four (4) to seven (7) players will be formed.
-Dead Front is a recurring event, and when the time is close, the Party Leader may apply to join the next event by clicking on “Application” in the quest window offered by the commander NPC. Only the Party Leader may apply, and the following conditions must be met for successful application.

Requirements for Dead Front participation:

i. The person applying for the Dead Front event must be the Party Leader.
ii. All party members including the Leader must be in the entrance area, having passed through the Chain of Fire.
iii. All party members (including the Party Leader) must be within the level range of the Dead Front event to which the Party Leader has applied.

Dead Front Schedule:

Time between Application Periods – 22 minutes
Application Period – 5 minutes
Entrance Opportunity Time – 3 minutes
Waiting for Start of Battle – 2 minutes or 2.5 minutes
Event Time from Start of Battle – 30 minutes

Each party that enters Dead Front will begin at its individual starting point. As soon as the event start is announced, each player must pass through a gulch in order to get to the next stage of the event.

Ice Castle

Reach the Ice Castle located in Frozen Valley, south of snowy Heihaff. It won’t get warmer in there, so you better party up with other brave heroes of the same bracket and sign up for the event with the Commanders in front of the gates. Keep moving, make your way through the frosty event and get stronger… given you survive. Make yourself a name in Trieste as a brave hero that defeated and humiliated the cold!
